Adams Environmental have been successfully assisting the LW Theatres Group with their asbestos management since 2013. In March 2020 Adams was asked to undertake the refurbishment survey of the 1970’s built Iconic Gillian Lynne Theatre building in advance of extensive remodelling. This was to provide a larger seating capacity with a re-raked and extended auditorium balcony around three sides, the reinstatement of the Theatre’s original revolving stage and auditorium, redecoration, new seats and upholstery, new carpets and wall coverings, enhanced front of house toilet facilities, and better accessibility, including a new and larger lift back stage.
The extended dark period and refurbishment work allowed the opportunity to remove some of the asbestos materials within the building, thus reducing the overall asbestos risk within the building. Although complicated by the Coronavirus Pandemic and lockdowns, the project was successfully delivered to the client’s satisfaction, although as expected the program took a bit longer than anticipated. Adam’s continue to assist LW Theatres with the ongoing asbestos management of the Gillian Lynne Theatre.
